- University of Toledo Sailing Team - The reality of off-shore intercollegiate racing is that money usually means success. Highly supported university sailing teams are often found at the top of the scoreboard at the end of most competitions. The student-athletes who participate for the University of Toledo Sailing Team are, and have, bucked that trend. The Sailing Rockets, behind J.J. Miller, Carly Fraker and Nate St. Clair have produced a winning 2021 fall off-shore sailing season that would shock even the most expert of observers. Inside Great Lakes Sailing caught up with the winning trio at North Cape Yacht Club, just north of Toledo, and conversed about their good fortune. And as an added bonus, world renowned Star sailor Mark Strube talked about a reclamation project on one of the most famous America's Cup boats in history, Stars and Stripes.
- Trans Superior Race organizers Stacy McKenzie and Dave Johnson enlighten us about running this regatta and the perils of sailing western Lake Superior; Charles Bayer, Arctos skipper, reminisced about this summer's sailing campaign; and overall Barthel Trophy winner Keith Stauber talks about sailing with three daughters at the ripe old age of 69.
- Lake Michigan racers in the Chicago Yacht Club's annual race to Mackinac Island talk about a variety of weather conditions and one of the slowest competitions in recent memory. Tim LaRiviera, who skippered Eagle One had a huge jump on the wind. Natalie J owner Phil O'Niel, was quite happy with the final race results. Ohana, owner Tor Hough, talks about the spoils of "less than spectacular" sail racing.
- Port Huron Yacht Club Commodore John Anter and Bayview's Race Chairman Greg Thomas talk about pre-event status and a preview of Bayview's Port Huron to Mac Race.
- Billy Vogel, Doug Cowan and Ryan Hexter bring us up to date on the small boat fleets and what's in store after high school and DRYA Commodore Tim Prophit discusses the nasty subject of 'lightning' and what happens when it hits your boat a few weeks before the biggest competition of the summer.
- Craig Griffith, Cheri Kent-Jones, and Keiran Searle - South Shore Yacht Club's 2021 Queen's Cup and Victor Wild - The show traveled all the way to Milwaukee this past week to catch some of the flavor of the South Shore Yacht Club's 2021 Queen's Cup. We conversed with race director Craig Griffith and his right hand person Cheri Kent-Jones about event organization and drifted off into a favorite subject of competitive sailors about 'why' is sail racing pushed from the publicity window with such enormous talent at some of our events? Enjoy a few moments with GP-52 Fox Sail Project Director Keiran Searle, speaking from San Francisco, on behalf of renowned owner Victor Wild, about winning the season's first competitive spring sail race across Lake Michigan and we finished by visiting with St. Joseph-based sailor, and Queen Cup competitor, Kenny Ginger, who took the show on a tour of Mary Grace, a 72-year-old Phillip Rhodes designed ketch that is still finding its way around Lake Michigan.
- Greg Thomas 2021 Port Huron to Mackinac Race Chair and Gail Turlock LMSRF - Greg brings us up to date on Bayview's Macinac race and talks a little bit about the rules, what it's like to chair and still race, and what's next for the area's biggest sail racing event. We also interviewed Gail Turlock, the veteran executive secretary of the Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation about competitive opportunities on the west side of the state. The Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation has five chapters that surround the lake and as many races as one could imagine.
