Annual Chili Cook-Off — Instructions & Guidelines
Date: February 7 | Time: Starting at 5:00 PM All event proceeds benefit CSA and the Junior Sailing Programs!
Event Purpose
The CSYC Chili Cook-Off is a social club event that brings members together in friendly competition while supporting CSA through event proceeds.
Participation & Cost
- Open to CSYC members and their guests
- Everyone attending must bring their own bowls, utensils, beverages, etc.
- $10 per person with a chili entry
- $20 per person without a chili entry
- Advance registration preferred
- Additional votes may be purchased during the event for $5
Chili Preparation
- Chili must be prepared off-site and fully cooked before arrival
- No raw meat preparation on club property
- Chili must be transported safely and kept hot
- Crock pots or approved warming devices permitted
- Participants provide extension cords, serving utensils, and decorations
Ingredients & Labeling
- All chili styles welcome
- No alcohol permitted as an ingredient
- Entries must be labeled with:
- Chili name
- Spice level
- Vegetarian/vegan (if applicable)
- Common allergens
Food Safety
- Chili must be maintained at safe serving temperature
- Serving areas must remain clean
- CSYC may remove any entry deemed unsafe
Setup & Serving
- Setup begins at 4:45 PM
- Each entry assigned a number
- Serving limited to official event times
Judging & Awards
- Judging by Peoples Choice, appointed judges, or both
- Criteria may include taste, aroma, texture, creativity, and overall impression
- Judges decisions are final
- Awards announced following voting
Conduct & Cleanup
- Respectful, sportsmanlike conduct expected
- No interference with judging or other entries
- Participants must clean their area and remove all items promptly
Liability
- Participants assume responsibility for their chili and food safety
- CSYC, its officers, and members are not responsible for illness, injury, or loss
- Participation constitutes acceptance of these guidelines
