Summers at Crescent Sail Yacht Club are an active time of sport, camaraderie, and enjoyment of the beautiful waters of Lake St. Clair. Our easy and immediate lake access allows all sailors to get out sailing quickly, maximizing time on the water for both learning the basics and honing racing techniques. Our long established Junior Sailing Program prioritizes safety while instilling lifelong skills of small boat handling and seamanship while fostering confidence, independence, and resilience.
Junior Sailing at Crescent over the years has been the foundation for generations of successful sail racers and cruisers who are well-known in regional and national sailing circles.
- Learn-to-Sail students learn how to rig, how to launch and retrieve their boats, how to sail their boats proficiently, and how to execute an orderly recovery from unexpected events such as capsize.
- Racing Sailors further develop their knowledge and understanding of the Racing Rules of Sailing, refine their boat handling skills, and enhance their racing techniques.
- Both programs help students develop their skills while working in a cooperative group setting, guided by experienced instructors.
