VESSEL SAFETY INSPECTIONS
On Saturday, June 11th, Gary Thomas of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be at Crescent to conduct vessel safety inspections. The procedure is that Gary will review vessel safety gear with the owner. This includes registration, flares, PFDs, etc. If everything is in compliance, the owner will be given a sticker to place on their vessel which signifies that they have passed the inspection. There is no penalty if the owner is not in compliance.
A new Coast Guard requirement this year is that fire extinguishers cannot be over twelve years old or they are considered expired and should be replaced.
The vessel safety inspections are a great way to review safety gear and make sure it is up to date. Also, the sticker will affirm compliance if the vessel is pulled over by the Coast Guard.
If you wish to have your vessel inspected, please contact Dick Thoma. There will also be a sign up sheet at the main entrance of the clubhouse.
