Dear CSYC Members and Supporters,
I'm writing to you as we near the end of sailing season and the beginning of putting things away for the winter. We'll be having many social events and lots of chances to talk about the things we did this year, and what we hope to do in the year ahead, and the "hot stove" gatherings are always fun.
One thing that's really important to remember is the impact our Crescent Sailing Association and its Junior Program and Adult Learn to Sail have had on people this past year.
- We had 80 or more kids and teens participate in our Junior Sailing program this summer, and they learned skills of sailing, self-reliance, teamwork, water safety, and so much more! The club was humming with activity most summer days and our program was an amazing outlet (and a safe one) for their personal adventures.
- We had 20 Adult Learn to Sail students and our program is so successful that we already have an extensive waiting list for next year. Adults are coming out of the Covid pandemic with an urge to learn new things and challenge themselves. Our program has seen a high degree of activity this year, with a great end-of-program regatta and with many of our students passing their skipper's tests. This is a wonderful source of new sailors for our sport and new members for us.
As we wrap up a successful year, now is a great time to think about making a donation to the nonprofit Crescent Sailing Association to help support our work in the new year to come. Your donation can be made in honor of somebody significant to you; in memory of a sailor or supporter who has passed on; or simply as support for the work that you love to have us doing.
Please make your check payable to "Crescent Sailing Association." Donations may be mailed to CSA, 276 Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, 48236, or directly placed in the CSA mailbox in our Boardroom on the second floor.
I know you'll have a warm feeling in your heart when you see our boats on the water next season with the new crop of folks benefiting from Crescent's mission of running a "school of seamanship," a key part of our charter as a club.
Thank you in advance for your generous contributions!
Vice Commodore Tim Moran
